The CEMView Data Buffer is the data acquisition unit for the CEMView Plant Integrator (PI) Edition and the CEMView Professional Edition (PE) Data Acquisition systems.
The CEMView Data Buffer product is equivalent to a traditional CEM PLC / data logger. Traditional I/O signals (4-20 mA analog and discrete AC/DC voltage signals) can be acquired with a distributed I/O sub-system, such as the Schneider-Electric Advantys Distributed I/O Platform. Additionally, the CEMView Data Buffer is capable of communicating directly via a serial RS-232/422/485 or an Ethernet connection to the analysis instrument.
The hardware platform for the CEMView Data Buffer is based on an embedded single board computer (SBC) platform which combines programmable logic controller (PLC) ruggedness with PC functionality under an open, flexible software architecture.
There are two CEMView Data Buffer configurations using our Data Server hardware platforms currently available.
- CEMView DB-PAC which is a Programmable Automation Controller without built in display screen.
- CEMView DB-PPC which is a Panel PC based Programmable Automation Controller with a LCD display screen.
The CEMView Data Buffer software running on the DB-PAC or DB-PPC hardware is a fully functional CEM DAS application that is identical in its functionality with a full featured CEMView CEM DAS with the only restriction being that it computes only up to one-minute regulatory compliance averages and it does not generate regulatory compliance reports. This functionality is unnecessary for the CEMView Data Buffer and is provided by the CEMView PE or CEMView PI CEM DAS application. The CEMView DAS application software acquires the one-minute data from the network of CEMView Data Buffers and computes all data averages greater than one-minute as soon as the data becomes available.
The CEMView Data Buffer solution offers the best of all worlds. A powerful computing platform which is based on the powerful Nexus Calculation Processor Soft-Logic Controller with direct communication to the analysis instrument. Short term local data storage and HMI capability for local control in a CEM shelter. The CEMView computer can be located in a central control room and connected to the CEMView Data Buffers via a local area network (LAN).
