Working with Open Standards

OPC Connectivity

CEMView products are designed from the ground up with the OPC Specifications as a cornerstone. CEMView implement both OPC Client and OPC Server functionality. The OPC standards specifications implemented in CEMView includes the OPC Data Access, Alarms and Event and Historical Data Access.

Universal Data Access

Microsoft's Universal Data Access (UDA) technologies is yet another cornerstone of the CEMView open architecture.

CEMView Server implements, utilizes and supports many open standards and application technologies including:

  • OLE-DB database technology
  • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2005
  • Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) technology
  • Microsoft® Data Access Components (MDAC)
  • Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)

Windows Script

Microsoft Windows Script Technologies facilitate the customization of CEMView to perform any task or function that is not already built into the application.

The two Windows Script engines:

are embedded into the CEMView application.

Modbus Slave Connectivity

Modbus TCP, RTU and ASCII Slave device functionality can be added to CEMView with the OPC Client Modbus Slave Link Gateway option.  Plant PLC and DCS Process Control systems that support the Modbus protocol can seamlessly integrate with CEMView.

Traditional Analog and Discrete I/O Connectivity

Traditional analog and discrete, current and voltage signal (4-20 mA, 0-10 VDC, 24 VDC discrete inputs and outputs, dry contact relay output contacts, etc.) functionality can be added to CEMView with an I/O sub-system such as the Schneider Electric Advantys Distributed I/O system or most manufacturers PLC systems with an appropriate OPC Server for the I/O.  CEMView can seamlessly integrate with any DCS Process Control or PLC Control network.
